~ HORSLEY LODGE ~ LOCATION: Horsley Lodge (a.k.a. Horsley Training Center) is located on the west side of Boyhaven Road in the Peter J. Cushing Training Area. NEAREST PARKING: Norris Hall parking lot is within walking distance of Horsley Lodge but it requires that you cross sometimes busy Boyhaven Road. There is a small parking lot behind the Lodge that is accessible from Boyhaven Road. Both parking lots are gated and will be opened by the Ranger when you arrive. DROP-OFF ACCESS: The parking lot at the rear of the building is very close to the back door of the Lodge. There is a new road to the Lodge near the top of the hill that can also be used to drop off gear. CABIN CAPACITY: 20 (but there are no bunks) WEEKEND RENTAL FEE: $80 (in-Council Units); $120 (out-of-Council Units) KITCHEN FACILITIES: There is a small kitchen area in the rear corner of the cabin equipped with a propane cook stove, some storage space, and a work counter for food preparation. There is no refrigerator, so bring coolers and ice. ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND OUTLETS: Yes HEATING: Wood stove FIREWOOD SUPPLY: Inside the cabin. Please replenish the supply from the camp woodshed before you leave. See Ranger Gus for instructions. WATER SUPPLY – WARM SEASONS: Spigot on the side of the latrine near Norris Hall WATER SUPPLY – WINTER: Spigot on south side of the White House to the right of the porch and a spigot on the entrance-side of Winter Barracks to the right of the door NEAREST LATRINE: Beside the parking lot at the rear of the building NEAREST SHOWERHOUSE: New winterized facility on Murray Lane north of the Parade Field or the recently renovated facility behind Carter Hall OTHER CAMPING FACILITIES NEARBY: Horsley Lodge is located in some prime open area tent-camping space including open spaces in the immediate vicinity of the cabin as well as Gilwell Field. Staff I, Staff II, and Gopher cabins are a short walk away, just across and a little north on Boyhaven Road. (Be careful crossing Boyhaven Road!)
