"West Pines" Wilderness
If you stand in the area of
the West Pines and turn your back to Boyhaven Road, you can imagine that you are
looking at a beautiful campsite in the Adirondack Wilderness. The ground is
flat, there’s an abundant supply of dead-and-down wood for campfires, easy
access to water, and all covered by a canopy of large deciduous and coniferous
trees. West Pines is a "miniature wilderness" where Scouts can
practice troop and patrol camping skills during the fall and winter seasons to
prepare themselves for challenging Adirondack treks to Marcy Dam, John's Brook
or the Wallface Lean-to.
